Kingdom of Heaven
Really enjoyed this one, it's no gladiator, but it's pretty good. Decent fights, and other than a slightly wooden Orlando Bloom the acting was pretty good.
What was really fantastic was the presentation of siege warfare. And even if they were only mentioned at least the movie did bring up issues of water, food, workers etc needed to make or defend a siege.
Only real gripe is Bloom needs to be sent to a gym if I'm to keep seeing him a as blacksmith (pirates and this movie) his arms are just too scrawny for me to buy that he's been beating the shit out of metal all day.
Final: 8/10
It had me from the moment the main character stabs a priest with a semi-molten sword and throws him into the forge

Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy
I've tried writing this in my head several times, each time it's ended up spiraling into some long drawn out pile of crap. So i'm just going to try and hit the highlights of my disaproval of the movie
1. The first thing that struck me about this movie is that it felt very much like a pre release version. As though some one would take a survey of the audiance afterwards and retool the movie and in a few months we'd see the real movie, and enjoy it.
2. The characters (and plot for that matter) feel hurried, chopped, rushed, as though there was some place the movie was trying to hurriedly get to. Except in the end they never got anywhere.
3. The romance bit. I have no problem with the idea of adding a romance to the story, this is a hollywood version of the story after all. What I do have a problem with is that the romance felt forced. Trillian spends most of the movie crapping on Arthur, and then for no real reason (sure he spear headed the rescue mission, but when he tells her that she realy seems as though she couldn't care less), then suddenly she's madly inlove with him.
Final verdict: None
I can't honestly even rate this movie, it was so unpolished and half baked I can't believe that anyone involved thought the movie was done and ready as a finished product.
